Getting ready to re-install

The engine is bolted to the frame from the bottom, and two of the bolts are obscured by the front axle assembly so I had to drop it out of the way.

The pressure washer helped to dislodge 35 odd years of accumulated grunge.

This is what the engine looks like now. Flywheel and shroud are back in place. The new replacement hub and grass screen look pretty good against the new paint job.
Valves are back in and adjusted, and the points assembly (lower left) are in and adjusted. The cylinder head is in place but not torqued yet -- I'll wait until the block is in the tractor for that because it'll just be easier.

That is really impressive, I'm glad you have the power washer. The engine looks great and it will be good to have it sitting correctly in the frame, maybe not breaking that pin ever 20 minutes like last summer. Hopefully I will be sitting on that thing and putting it through the paces with in the next few weeks.

How difficult is it to get that mower deck off the tractor? I would think it was intended to be removed easily if it came with a trailer hitch and had a "tractor use" in its design. Deckless will be much easier to haul stones and logs out of the fields in future.

The power washer worked great - I hope that the stuff that washed off will blend into my driveway ...

Dad and I had trouble getting the deck off/on last year, but I think that was due to not having a 'system' (or a manual to refer to :). I think that with a few trials we should be able to work something out. It's a Cub after all, so the design was well thought out. You may try to find a manual online (maybe eBay) - it'd be a good investment as a reference for other things too like maintenance.
